Contact the family doctor

At home: contact the family doctor or the doctor on call who will come to certify the death and issue a Medical Certificate of Cause of Death.

In A Nursing or Residential Home: usually staff will contact the local doctor to advise of a death

In hospital: staff will advise you on the necessary paperwork and will arrange for the deceased to be moved to the hospital mortuary.
